Lessons
Piano
- Pianists can start as early as five, or when they begin to read.
- Lessons are designed to incorporate music theory, history, and analysis into the study of each piece.
- Supplemental material is tailored to student’s interests; including popular music, improvisation and composition.
- Weekly reiteration of fundamental principles such as theory, scale and technique provide students with a solid understanding of music that enables them to grasp and appreciate it even more.
Violin
- Violinists can start as early as age four.
- Lessons are designed to incorporate not only the technique for the violin, but also an understanding of different musical styles and genres.
- Supplemental material is tailored to students interest; including popular music, fiddling, sacred, etc.
- Lessons include weekly reiteration of fundamental principles such as theory, scales, and technique, which provides students with a solid understanding of music that enables them to grasp and appreciate it even more.
Voice
- Generally, vocalists should be at least 10 before they begin lessons. Opera should not be started until the mid-teens.

- A choice of Theory and Solfege is available for students learning to read music.
- Fundamental concepts, such as breathing and tonality, are practiced at every lesson in exercises and repertoire.
Viola
- Violists generally start around age eight, for students who wish to start earlier, we recommend beginning with the violin and transitioning when the switch to a larger instrument can be made more comfortably. Exceptions may be made on an individual basis.
- Lessons are designed to incorporate not only the technique for the violin, but also an understanding of different musical styles and genres.
- Supplemental material is tailored to students interest; including popular music, fiddling, sacred, etc.

Clarinet
- Clarinetists can begin lessons by age 8 or 9.
- Lessons are rooted in fundamentals, incorporating all of the elements of basic sound production and technique. By starting lessons early, young players can be taught sound fundamentals to avoid bad habits down the road.
- Students are also encouraged to discover a style of music they like, regardless of whether it is classical, jazz, popular, Disney, sacred, etc. Students learn best when playing music they are excited about.
Saxophone
- Students interested in Saxophone, much like clarinet, can begin around ages 8 or 9.
- Lessons are based on solid fundamental teaching, and supplemented with exercises, and with jazz influences if requested, once a student has reached a basic level of proficiency.
- Students are also encouraged to discover a style of music they like, regardless of whether it is classical, jazz, popular, Disney, sacred, etc. Students learn best when playing music they are excited about.
Music Theory
- Music theory lessons are essential for students who want to move beyond the basics.
- It gives you a fuller appreciation of your own instrument, as well as a good understanding of others.
- In theory lessons we explore chords, melodies, intervals, composition, and transposition, along with ear training.
- These courses will assist you in your musical endeavors and prepare you for the sort of rigor you will face in college music courses.
